Pitch journalists the right way!
McDonald's magazine ad for extra-large coffee was too big to fit on two pages, aside from some ring stains on the corners. "Extra large coffee." (Sweden, 2008)
Pitch Journalists the Right Way
The folks at Buzzsumo interviewed journalists from major publications like Techcrunch, Mashable, NY Times, Fast Company, and more. Here were the major takeaways on how to pitch:
A subject line that spells out what the news is and a pitch written in honest, plain bullet points.
If you have a ton of info, just lay it out simply. Use bullet points.
A good pitch is first and foremost relevant.
It should be concise while conveying just enough information.
Get straight to the facts, avoid hyperbole, buzzwords and rambling – just tell me why it’s different to the competition.
Today's Challenge
Craft your own pitch using some of the tips above.
