5 Things to Know Before You Hit Send on Your SMS MarketingThe average American spent 4.1 hours a day on mobile devices in 2021. Let that sink in for a second as you're likely reading this from your mobile device.Given the amount of time we spend on our phones, it's no surprise that SMS marketing is taking off in a big way.Whether you're new to the SMS game or have been at it for a while, check out these five tips before your next campaign goes out.  Comply with all laws and industry guidelines: Most states have their own laws, which you can download here. The most important ones are setting up a double opt-in, sending during business hours, and including an opt-out.  Use SMS for important & immediate messages: SMS isn't like email marketing. It's important to use it the right way. For example - Send time-sensitive info (like a flash sale announcement) or critical updates (like shipping notifications or two-step authentication codes).  Watch your send frequency: The optimal frequency for most text campaigns is one message a week. Start there — and then try varying your message cadence once you have a big enough contact list to gather meaningful data.  Be concise but not difficult: Don't confuse your customers with annoying and unprofessional text speak. We're all for conversational text, but mind your abbreviations so as to not confuse folks.   Use SMS as part of an omnichannel strategy: The lessons you learn from other marketing channel interactions should guide your text message marketing efforts.
