Best Practices for IG HashtagsNo matter what your social media goals are, you sure as heck better be using hashtags. Why? They increase exposure & discovery They encourage audience interaction They help you analyze competitors They inspire new contentSold? Cool. The folks at Sprout Social compiled best practices for using hashtags. Here they are:  Optimal number: This varies based on the type of post. 'Within a caption, it’s recommended to use 1-3 hashtags. If you enter more hashtags as the first comment, then up to 30 hashtags would be acceptable.'  Find the best hashtags: Use the IG search bar or check out influencers and/or popular accounts you already follow.  Follow hashtags: When you follow hashtags, they'll show up in your feed. This is a great way to keep a pulse on what's happening in your industry or niche.   Encourage branded hashtags: Want user-generated content? Ya, you do. Create a branded hashtag and display it in your profile. Push your audience to use it.  Compile hashtag lists: You shouldn't be using the same hashtags for every post. As your content varies, so should your hashtags. Fire up a Google Doc or Notes and keep your post-specific hashtags readily available.   Don't forget about IG Stories: Don't overlook hashtags in IG Stories. They will show up in search results. If you have a bunch of hashtags but want to keep your post clean, simply hide your tags behind a sticker or text.Dive deeper here.
