What’s up y’all? It’s been great connecting with some of the readers over the last few weeks. Took a little breather from Please Advise as I figure out where this goes next. I have been floating out the idea of selling it.

Signs Your Content Sucks (And How to Fix It)

Let's get real for a second: most content out there is forgettable. If your marketing isn't driving results, maybe it's time for an honest assessment.

Here's how to tell if your content sucks:

  1. The Engagement Black Hole: No comments, no shares, no sign of life. Good content creates conversation. If yours is met with crickets, something's wrong.

  2. The Metrics Don't Lie: Low time-on-page, high bounce rates, and dismal conversion numbers are your content's way of saying "I'm boring."

  3. You're Blending In: If you could swap your logo with a competitor's and no one would notice, you're not creating anything worth remembering.

  4. Copy and paste: Copying and pasting the same content across LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok isn't a strategy. It's a confession that you don't understand what makes each platform unique.

Your 30-minute content revival plan:

  1. Find your most popular piece ever (there must be one)

  2. Identify what made it work (topic, format, tone?)

  3. Do more of that, less of everything else

Quick fixes that actually work:

  • Add a contrarian take (what industry "truth" do you disagree with?)

  • Show real results (with actual numbers)

  • Share a genuine failure (and what you learned)

  • Cut word count by 50% (seriously, try it)

Remember: Good content makes people think, "That's interesting." Great content makes people think, "I need to share this with someone."

The best content makes people think, "This was created specifically for me."
