5 Steps to Improve Your Team's Workflow

Sometimes it’s the simple, people-first needs that make all the difference. Spend some time on team this week.

1. Map the week, not the job description.
Ask each team member to list everything they actually did this week, every meeting, Slack thread, note, deck, post and report. What on that list should be a system? What should be automated? What shouldn't exist at all?

2. Kill one standing meeting.
Replace it with a Slack conversation or some voice memos. That's 30, maybe 60, minutes back to every person on your team, every single week. Do the math on what that adds up to in a year. A 60-minute meeting with 8 attendees is 8 hours of labor consumed in a single hour of clock time.

3. Ask what got in the way.
Not "how was your week" but specifically ask: what distracted you most this week? Do it two weeks in a row. If you're hearing the same answers, that's not a coincidence. It takes an average of 23 minutes to fully regain deep concentration after a single interruption.

4. Block focus time. Daily. Non-negotiable.
Put it on the calendar like it's a client call. Because uninterrupted work is the only place real output actually happens. A protected block is a protected brain.

5. Schedule one team outing with zero work talk.
Lunch, a walk, a coffee. No agenda. Teams that actually like each other communicate better, move faster and flag problems sooner. Let your team learn about each other, build trust, find common ground and listen.

As humans, we can’t process info in milliseconds. We need time to think, time to strategize, time to plan and time to execute.

We thrive in collaborative and connected environments. If your team is one more AI tool short of barely speaking, it might be time for an overhaul.
