Is it about AI or is it about change?
We talked last week about the importance of systems being in place before AI can come in and help. If you recently purchased a new AI tool and your team is not excited, ask yourself why?
Are they resisting AI as a whole or the change that comes along with it? Here’s a few talking points to go over with your team, because whether they’ve said it out loud or not, they probably all are thinking about these questions.
1. Will this replace me?
AI unlocked a new fear for many of us. Designers, writers, artists. Everyone has a fear of becoming obsolete. Make sure your team knows their value, how much you appreciate them and that a human will always be in the loop when it comes to the use of AI.
2. Will this make my job harder?
If the tool makes their job harder, scrap it. We’ve personally scrapped tools that didn’t work for us here at Vendilli and we learned in the process. Listen if your team is telling you something doesn’t work. They are in the day-to-day operations and they get it. Leadership cannot make proper decisions without team input. Period.
3. If AI handles some of my workload, how do I fill the rest of my time?
If that email automation is built in seconds or that social post is written in no time, your team is wondering how to show their ongoing value. With AI handling the admin work, your team has more time for strategy, in-person visits with clients and personal development. Give them those opportunities.
4. Am I behind because I don’t already know how to use this?
AI and the tools around it change almost daily. No one is a true expert because it’s not possible. If your team feels like they are behind, allow them the time to learn, set up workshops, provide them with key resources and help them understand the ‘why’ behind each tool. The more they understand it, the more they can embrace it.
5. What if AI is wrong, can I tell you?
Empower your people to check everything that AI spits out. Those stats might not be real and that workflow might need changed. Let them know that AI can (and will be) wrong and it’s up to them to use it with caution and put their brilliant mind into everything they do.
In case you missed our latest podcast episode, Kevin chats all things AI and systems below.

We talked to Kevin Leonard, President and COO Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Stouffer Realty, who scaled a real estate division from $123M to $1.25B before he ever touched an AI tool. His take was that AI only accelerates what's already working. Point it at chaos and it just makes chaos faster. Learn how to marketer-proof your workflow before you bolt on the AI layer.
